Here is my Studium/Punctum photo:
The studium for me is the strange, unexpected nature of the photo and the punctum is his nose, the way the rocks make it look. It's from Wolfgang Tillmans, the photographer I'm considering doing my presentation on. This is titled "Anders" from 2005.

ugh, I don't know why it turned out so small - sorry!
ReplyDeleteWow, this photo completely tripped me up. I feel like all of it is punctum for me haha. But I totally see what you mean relative to the nose. For minute though I thought it those weren't rocks but somewhat of a rare skin condition which totally brought on a different set of emotions. Very interesting indeed.

Wolfgang Tillmans has done some great work - definitely pursue him as an artist if you are interested in his work. saw
ReplyDeleteOK, I know I'm a little slow on the uptake here...so I apologize, but I think I actually agree with Caitlin. The strangeness of this photo is so captivating that it all seems to be the punctum, but I guess if I had to break it up, I'd say the studium is his entire face and the actual puntum for me is everything from his eye to the right...it almost looks like he has tumors on his head. It's really creepy.
