Narrative Idea

So I have two ideas...
I really like Cindy Sherman. (if anyone went to the art 21 screening on wednesday, you can understand why, if you didn't go YOU SHOULD HAVE BECAUSE YOU'RE MISSING OUT) I like how she transforms herself into different characters...
I'm also inspired by a shoot on aAmerica's Next Top Model a few cycles ago when each contestant had to act and look like a male and a female, and they combined both shots. (specifically they were celebrity couples) which was really cool.
So I would prefer to shoot a person; I like the warehouse idea/putting people juxtaposed with setting and or outfit but I don't want to use someone else's idea so..

OR
I could d the whole nature taking over or becoming a part of what we create like I talked about in class...

Thoughts? Opinions? Criticisms?

  1. My opinion, at this level none of us need to worry about "copying" others' ideas. I think that trying to recreate or emulate great work is the best way to learn. Both of those ideas sound very cool...just go for it.

  2. I love that episode of ANTM. I think the idea of playing with others' perception of yourself is really interesting because if you put yourself in a photo, I feel like you are typically telling your viewer "This is me" but in some cases this is not the case. I think it adds a level of complexity to a photo and might be interesting/fun to explore.

  3. I'm with Mariel, I love those episodes of ANTM, so personally I'm inclined to that. I agree, I feel it'd be your opportunity to toy with your audience and manipulate their perceptions of you. I think it'd also be interesting what photos and part of the "transition" from someone going from one perception to another, I feel you could definitely play around with that.
